There are no words to explain the impact of this book on me. Eve

There are no words to explain the impact of this book on me. Even now as I reread it, it's story and the author who lived it fills me with inspiration. On the surface, it is the story about a man on a quest for spiritual awakening. Along the way, he faces many challenges, overcomes personal demons, almost loses the woman he loves, and faces his greatest enemy: himself. Metaphorically, it is a story about the road we all travel down. Evey road is different, just as everyone's growth is different. But ultimately, it is not the destination but the journey (and the seeds that are planted along the way) that matter.

Wes is a natural storyteller. His words ensnare you from the outset and keep you riveted throughout. My only complaint is that it ends too soon ...but as the last chapter suggests, the story doesn't end at the last page. I look forward to hearing more from this author, and I look forward to my own journey down the red road.

Wes' ability to share his experience, coupled with the inner turmoil of one's thinking versus spirit spoke volumes to me in "White Man Red Road". Through Wes' journey, I was shown a possible path to connect to my spirit and the world around me on a level that was previously unavailable. "White Man Red Road" is written with the utmost respect and honor of the teachings of the Red Road, which has been passed to me as a result of reading this book. I am honored for the world I now experience.

A rare and personal glimpse not only into Native American sacred tradition, but more importantly, an intimate story of one man's development and growth through spirituality. It is as though he were sitting telling you over coffee!

A very worthy, and uplifting, book of inspiration to read for anyone walking a spiritual path, be it through flowering fields or over stony trails.

"White Man Red Road" was quite a refreshing read, after the many spiritually inclined books I have read. Instead of the usual ritual of intellectualized spiritually often found in spiritual books, Wes Hamil delivers to the reader a raw, uncut spiritual experience and journey. The vulnerability and intimacy shared throughout "White Man Red Road" is quite commendable due to the inherent conflict between the races. The overall theme Hamil has given in "White Man Red Road" is very simple: that maybe with some faith, some courage, and taking some actions you don't believe in life can be radically transformed. If nothing less the book is inspirational.

WOW doesn't even begin to describe this book for me. I am only half done with it but felt moved to write this now. Your book was recommended to me by a good friend of mine and one that knows me very well to know that I have been struggling. Not with addiction of chemical forms but with the ideas that I had to suck it up in life and what it handed me and live in a survival mode. I have struggled for many years with co-dependency and depression. And although I have been able to keep my depression in check more the last couple of years, I am in no way living more than in survival mode.

I have had a faith in God and do believe that there is a being there to help us through this life. However, I am now believing more than ever there is more to life than survival mode and being at the beginning of my journey I am scared but with an anxiousness to discover myself and reconnect. This book, or what I've read so far, will help anyone who is struggling with something in their life as long as they have an open heart to know there is a way to reconnect to Creator. You will not regret reading this if you are with open heart to hear what Wes is telling you through his writings. He has in my opinion, done a wonderful job at opening up his experiences to share with others to help them to know you can find a better way to live. I am most anxious to finish his book and work on my road.

Thank you Wes and to my friend for helping me this far. I have some hard work in front of me but now with a direction I didn't have before. You have no idea how thankful I am.

What an honor it has been to be read this beautiful story of what can truly happen when Creator is sought. It is very well-written. So well, that at times, I completely forgot I was reading, and found myself lost in the darkness of the desert, experiencing ceremony alongside Wes. His story has helped me gain a better understanding of what it means to surrender to Creator when you feel like the weight of the world on your shoulders. Thank you, Wes, for sharing your struggles and your spiritual path. The Red Road has changed my life in indescribable ways, and I have only just begun walking.

The clarity in which Wes retells his journey and how he experienced those experiences is truly amazing. Wes is certainly one of those people you can look at, and know they're following their dream and fulfilling their life's purpose. Personally I think we all benefit from learning from these types of individuals who help the community grow. As someone interested in spiritual growth and spends a lot of time on the "white road", I found this book quite inspirational and well worth the read.

A heartfelt, sensitive, true story of a man learning & using the teachings of the Medicine Wheel of the ancestors, not trying to be one. Bringing his beautiful wife closer into this sacred circle with him and both of them healing, walking, breathing, living these teachings each day, one day at a time and giving them away to others to be of service for humanity. It will transform your heart, your thoughts and your life from living to giving "what's in it from me". Excellent read!

Unique story, moving, deeply interesting memoire. Luckily, NOT a preachy or new-agey "find yourself" spiritual self-help book.

ByBKultgon

Format: Kindle Edition

I got interested in this book because a friend was reading it. It’s not the sort of thing that I normally read. In fact, given my job is teaching analytic (i.e. logic centered) philosophy at a US research university, _White_Man_Red_Road_ looked like the kind of book that I AVOID READING at all costs. I cannot stand preachy new age books that purport to be full of “wisdom” and “all the answers” when in fact they’re just full of unsupported/unsubstantiated bullsh*t. I used to live in Boulder, CO. They sell a lot of those sorts of books in Boulder.

HOWEVER, _White_Man_Red_Road_ is definitely NOT that sort of book. Much to my surprise and delight, the book turned out to be the farthest thing from a spiritual self help book claiming to have all the answers to your problems of modern living. I found it to be a deeply moving memoire. Like any good memoire the author’s own experiences of loss, love, transformation, struggle, triumph, etc. are shared with the reader in such a way as to help us reflect on, or heal, or give away, our own experiences with those things. But with this memoire I found the story to be fairly unique (at least to me). So it’s not just a great story, but it was one you don’t hear often. I really appreciated this, and it made the book a fun read. I powered through it in a 2-3 very enjoyable sittings.

Here are some other things worthy of note:

• I learned a great deal about the some of teachings of the First Peoples of this continent form this book. As an academic, these teachings were fascinating to me in their own right. Being a philosopher is in many ways being a sort of intellectual historian, and I learned things from _White_Man_Red_Road_ that I had not encountered anywhere in my formal studies. So kudos to the author for that.

• The music supplement is very interesting if you are into that sort of thing. I have very eclectic musical tastes, so I enjoyed music accompaniment. The songs are inspired by music native to North America, and I enjoyed listening to it. I don’t hear that sort of music often.

A moving story of spiritual trials and discovery

Bycecorletton

This is an excellent book, easy to relate to no matter what background you come from. Hamil shares a unique story of ancient rites in a modern world and it's written so lucidly that I almost felt that I experienced it myself. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in forms of worship outside the mainstream, the practices of indigenous Americans, or just open spiritually to many different experiences.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I know the author personally. His ability to relate these teachings and this practice have affected my life in a profound way. Wes is authentic and kind and that comes through in his writing.

Bravo, kudos, and gratitude

This is such a personal memoir. Having had the privilege of meeting Wes and Victoria Hamil at a family wedding, I was able to picture them in their struggles, hear their voices and imagine their faces. As a writer myself, I am in astonished awe at the courage it took to lay bare the long journey to enlightenment with such honesty, clarity and detail. As you read this book, you will find yourself---willing or not---becoming a better person. Bravo, kudos, and gratitude.

This book gives insight into a journey through many spiritual practices that are practiced by very few today. Wes gives a unique perspective on growth through the ancient ceremonies used by the native peoples. I would highly recommend this book not only for the information provided but because it is so beautifully written. The music is calming with a good message, and I can listen to it over and over.

Solid read, beautiful video. A story for any man who has a sense of connection to higher powers.

Reading, and listening to this story, I believe, Wes took this journey, then knew he had to share with those willing to truly 'listen'.

It's a gift to hear how this story grew and is being told to honorably fullful a promise.

Thank you Wes for sharing the journey. It is a sweet read, and a great listen seeing you share.

 amazing!

when we walk the Red Road, there is so much that we cannot or are not willing to share about the personal parts of our journey. this is like a voyeuristic view of the authors travels along the Red Road. I found it amazingly candid and open. the similarities of my own life made me chuckle at times. this is truly a work of art.
